ABOUT US
The teamwork between the individual team members
involved in Horse Power for Ability (including the horse!)
needs to be excellent and well practised to ascertain the
best possible treatment effect for any individual patient,
and to ensure patient safety at all times.
Our (human) hippotherapy team consists of:
The physiotherapist with specialist post-graduate
education in hippotherapy.
She/he assumes overall responsibility for the hippotherapy
treatment session. She also carries out the physiotherapy
assessments.
The horse handler.
He/she is responsible for getting the horse to deliver the
movements the physiotherapist wants for each individual
patient at exactly the time they are appropriate for this
patient.
The assistant/support worker.
She/he assists the patient with transfers on and off the
horse, and the physiotherapist with improving the
positioning of the patient. She walks
alongside the horse and patient during
the hippotherapy treatment session.
