The cost to our patients of one course of
treatment is £850. This includes an initial
assessment, six hippotherapy sessions of
up to 30 minutes, each (including mounting
and dismounting), and a re-assessment,
unless agreed otherwise.
A non-refundable booking fee of £200 will
book a place. The initial assessment and
the first five hippotherapy sessions are
£100, each, and the last hippotherapy
session is £50. The fees are payable at the
individual sessions/assessments.
If individuals or organisations would like a service that is not
hippotherapy as described in this website, please
contact us, so
that we can negotiate a bespoke package and appropriate
fees.
We are campaigning to increase the awareness of
hippotherapy amongst doctors, physiotherapists and
other health care workers, and work hard to provide
evidence of the effectiveness of hippotherapy for people with
movement disorders. This way we hope to get hippotherapy
recognised as a physiotherapy treatment which the NHS should
pay for.
In the meantime, to keep the cost to patients and
families to a minimum, all involved in delivering
hippotherapy at Horse Power for Ability work at
very competitive rates and do all the ongoing
hippotherapy-related horse training for free.
However, we do need to charge a fee for our
services which covers our costs; otherwise we
cannot sustain our specialist physiotherapy
service for people with movement disorders.
