Vallum Farm owners Peter and Vicky Moffitt will stage a Family Fun
Day to raise funds for Horse Power for Ability and for Macmillan
Cancer Relief on Sunday, 14th August. Vallum Fam is easily accessible
some 5 miles West of Heddon on the Wall along the B6318 Military
Road.
Last year’s event was an overwhelming success, both for the many
people who came and enjoyed a great day out, and for us. Like last year
many businesses are supporting us, and we hope you can come and join
us on the day.
We look forward to seeing you on 14th August!
Northumberland physiotherapist Sarah Fairbairn ran the
Edinburgh marathon in aid of Horse Power for Ability and raised
£520 for us! Many thanks, Sarah!
The ceilidh that Tynedale Lions
hosted in aid of Horse Power for
Ability on 15th April in Corbridge
Village Hall was a great success.
Thanks to the wonderful
organisation by Lesley, including a
great supper, and an excellent
band, everybody had a wonderful
time. The ceilidh raised £610,
£300 of which will go towards
hippotherapy treatment for a
little girl who benefited greatly
from it last year and whose
parents are keen for her to resume. Thank you so much, Iain and Lesley and everybody who
supported us on the day!
We are delighted that after a long convalescence from laminitis in all four feet (laminitis is
a serious inflammation of the tissues between the hoof wall and the sole of the foot),
Rowan was declared sound by his vet and farrier in late April. We have been working very
hard since to rebuild his muscles, initially with ground-work and long-reining, and for the
last two weeks with gentle ridden work.
It’s amazing how much muscle he has lost in 3 months on complete box rest and 4 months
and a bit without any work. At the moment he can’t even trot round a corner in balance, and
there’s quite a bit of work to be done to bring him back to his previous fitness, and fitness
for hippotherapy. However, we are very pleased that he managed his first hippotherapy
session well last week, and we are hoping to build clients up gradually, without overloading
him.
