“Life equals movement and movement equals life.”
We provide a specialist physiotherapy service in Northumberland
using horses to help people with movement disorders by
enhancing their movement experience and movement ability.
Hippotherapy (from Greek hippos = horse) is a specialist physiotherapy intervention that
makes use of the movement impulses of a walking horse to correct and improve movement
in the person on horseback. Research has shown that hippotherapy is particularly
beneficial for people with neurological disorders that affects their ability to move.
We provide a hippotherapy service to children and adults with a range of movement
disorders. Our chair and lead physiotherapist has extensive research and personal
experience of cerebral palsy and hippotherapy. This makes Horse Power for Ability unique
in the UK, probably world-wide.
NEWS:
Vallum Farm, on the Military Road some 5 miles West of Heddon
on the Wall, hosted a Family Fun Day on Sunday, 18th July in aid
of Horse Power for Ability. This was to generate funds that will
alllow us to give more patients access to hippotherapy. And raise
funds we did! Thanks to the tremendous suspport of Vicky and
Peter, and lots of other businesses and/or individuals who offered
their services, goods and time on the day, and all the visitors who
came to support us, we raised just over £2000! The weather was
kind to us, and I think everybody who came had a good time.
1000 thanks everybody for your support!
